Desktop is a term used to refer to various computer related entities. In a narrow manner the term also refers to Wallpapers which are configured to be the background of your computer system. However, in a broader way the word is used to refer to desktop computers which are conventional computer systems. Any personal computer with a CPU or computer processing unit and VDU (Monitor) can be called as a desktop computer. Most PCs are for general use such as working on application like text editors, watching movies listening music, playing games and at the most, creating applications using relevant software. Prior to the introduction of microprocessors any computer system that could be easily placed on a desk was considered as significantly compact.


Desktop is a computer system which is consisted of various hardware parts. The first and foremost is the CPU which is the core part used for taking input processing on the received data and providing the output. The input can be passed using various input devices such as keyboard, computer mouse, microphone, scanners etc. These devices are also crucial part of computer system. You can receive the processed results through different hardware based on the format of the output. For example if the output you are going to receive is in digital visual format then computer VDU or Visual Display Unit will help you see the results. However, if it is in audio format then speaker will serve the purpose.

Computers are an important entity in today’s modern world as most of the tasks rely on computers to be accomplished. These devices are not only used for conventional regular tasks but also for high-end accomplishments in huge scientific organizations. PCs are now seen in most houses and have become common throughout the world. Laptops and notebooks are compact electronic computer devices which stand in contrary to Desktop computers.
